Age Concern head fails in home bid for her ill husband

AGE Concern chairman Daphne Minihane has been refused Planning permission to build a bungalow in the green zone for her terminally ill husband.

It was Mrs Minihane’s third attempt to get Planning consent for the home on field 268, Les Croix, Rue du Tas de Géon, Trinity, so that she can care for her husband.

Mrs Minihane was represented at yesterday’s meeting by former Planning president Dick Shenton and former Senator Christopher Lakeman. Mr Shenton pleaded with the panel to have sympathy with the case and said that the elderly in the Island were being neglected.

The Planning panel sympathised with the case, but said that allowing it would be a substantial departure from the Island Plan 2002 and that although personal circumstances could not be ignored, they should never determine an application.
