While some people might have been enjoying a candlelit dinner on Valentine’s Day evening, friends and members of Dance St Helier were rock ‘n rolling at the Town Hall.

Valentine’s Day was the date for 56 enthusiastic dancers to take to the floor to the sounds of Tony King.

It was evident that everyone appreciated the opportunity to dance to live music as the floor was constantly full.

The group, who were formed about a year ago, organise twice-monthly ballroom dances in the Assembly Room. They have also taken on the organisation of the annual St Helier Dance Festival, on behalf of the Parish of St Helier, this year. The three-day event, starting on 27 March will include salsa on Friday night, ballroom on Saturday and a tea dance on Sunday.

Several professional dancers from the UK will be involved, providing tuition and joining in the sessions.

The group also arrange lessons for beginners and are especially trying to encourage more ballroom dancing.
