JERSEY RFC’s under-19 squad bid to create history by reaching the quarter-finals of the National Colts Plate tomorrow.

Standing in the way of what would be Jersey’s top performance in the competition – reaching round six -are Hertford, one-point conquerors of Rosslyn Park in round four.

Once again, due to injuries, Jersey have been forced to dig deep and have called on the 16 year-olds who served them so well in the last round, a titanic effort that had them squeezing past Rochford Hundred at St Peter by just a point.

First team winger Ed Dawson misses out again, as does U18 captain Stephen De Ste Croix, in-form front rower Charlie Pearce and three-quarter Tom Nuth, both unable to train earlier in the week. The squad, however, is boosted by the return of scrum-half Danny McAviney, flanker Chris Whitehead and front-rower William Campbell.

The squad, backed by Style Group, travel tonight to for the noon kick-off at Hertford.
