A LOCAL chef will show off his culinary expertise on the TV programme The Great British Menu later this year.

Shaun Rankin is the man responsible for the Michelin-starred Bohemia bar and restaurant and was tracked down by the programme’s producers to star in the fourth series, which will be screened on BBC2 from the end of this month.

The Great British Menu is the BBC television series where top UK chefs compete for the chance to cook one course of a four-course banquet. The first series’ banquet was for the Queen on her 80th birthday, the second series was for the British Ambassador to France and the third was held at the Gherkin in London. Mr Rankin’s stint trying to impress the judges starts on 4 May and he will be on screen for five nights.
