COMEDIAN Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown will be coming to Jersey seven years after he was branded too blue for Fort Regent.

The notorious comedian, who promotes himself as Britain’s ‘rudest and crudest’ stand-up, is heading to the Island for a gig on 11 July, and promoters are expecting it to be a sell-out. In March 2002 civil servants employed by the Sport, Leisure and Recreation Committee to vet bookings refused to hire out Fort Regent to Mr Brown’s promoters, citing the reason that the funnyman was ‘unsuitable’ for the family entertainment centre.

But Craig Alder, of Firethorn Productions, has joined forces with the original promoter, Paul Couser, to get the comedian to the Island. He added that the comedian couldn’t wait to come over and entertain Islanders.’
