ISLANDERS showed yesterday that Red Nose Day never loses its appeal because there are no limits to the fun, laughter and silliness involved.

Students of all ages were among those who came up with novel ideas to raise money after discussing over the past week how children less fortunate than themselves would benefit from their efforts.

It was the latest diabolo craze being enjoyed in the playground at St Lawrence School that gave children and staff there an idea about how to raise funds. Head teacher Chris Jones said that interest in diabolo had taken off there before Christmas when a few children started practising the skill in the playground.

‘We included diabolo in our Christmas production and since then some of the children have become very proficient at it,’ he said.

To mark Red Nose Day, some of the older children held diabolo workshops for the younger ones who wanted to have a go.

The winners of a tournament for the best performers were Evan Nobes and Max Wright.
