AZTEC Springfield won the NatWest 7-a-side Indoor Cricket League Division II title last night following a 29-run victory against second-placed Caesarean Juniors.
Springfield’s ninth consecutive victory at Fort Regent came about after they were put in to bat and they scored 148 all out with Tristan Hanson scoring 51 runs before being run out. Hansen struck three consecutive sixes in the final over.
Skipper Paul Robson supported with 27 runs while James Faudemer took three wickets for 19 runs in his three overs. Charles Perchard batted impressively for Caesareans with 34 runs and he and his team-mates were just about up with the run rate after six overs on 66 for one.
But as their wickets fell – Alex Cooke took three for 13 -they were left facing the task of scoring 32 runs to win off the final over. Faudemer followed up his wicket haul with 24 runs for Caesareans.#
