CAESAREAN Cycling Club’s Adam Wojtkiewicz finished 32nd in the 50th anniversary race for the Dulwich Primavera Wally Gimber Trophy on Sunday in Ashford.
Wojtkiewicz was one of four CCC members competing in the National B race as part of their countdown towards gaining 2010 Commonwealth Games selection. The tough 75-mile early season event took place in the undulating countryside of rural Kent and again attracted a top class field.
CCC’s Chris Spence, Robin Ovenden and Chris Seviour also competed on the fast and relatively straight roads without any hard climbs.
Wojtkiewicz was 51 seconds behind the winner with Spence also finishing in the main bunch in 51st place. Pot holes caused problems for Ovenden and Seviour. Both suffered serious mechanical difficulties but they still managed to ride the distance and finish the race.
