FAIRBAIRN Sporting Club Français have withdrawn their first team from the NatWest Weekend League Premier Division and the newly-formed Channel Islands League.
The Island’s most successful club over the past 18 seasons, with ten Weekend League titles and ten CI honours to their name, have withdrawn from cricket’s top flight because of a shortage of players.
But the club is not folding as they will continue to play a second team in the lower division.
SCF skipper Tony Carlyon said: ‘It’s sad news and very disappointing but we just don’t have enough players for the season ahead.’
