THEY want to tighten banking regulation, close tax loopholes and ultimately crack down on offshore finance centres.
But despite finding the business of so-called tax havens hard to swallow, when the G20 politicians meet on Wednesday night they will be happily tucking into platefuls of Jersey Royals.
A total of 10 kilos of the Island’s most famous export have been shipped to the UK for a Downing Street banquet being laid on for the leaders of the world’s 20 most powerful nations. They will be part of a ten-course Best of British feast to be prepared by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
Ted Egré, of Aigretmont Farm in St Saviour, said: ‘I was chuffed when I found out that the G20 politicians were going to be eating our spuds. It’s quite ironic, though. They obviously prefer the flavour of our potatoes to the flavour of our banks.’
