THE Jersey Ladies Golf Association has selected a strong quartet of players to defend the team gold medal in the NatWest Island Games in Aland this summer.

Elaine Pushman, now playing off four handicap, has won a recall after missing out two years ago and the La Moye player will team up with three of the Island’s golden girls from Rhodes – Olivia Jordan-Higgins, Alex Mollin and Gloria Paradiso.

Royal Jersey’s Diane Carter, who played in 2007, and Frances Shaw, of Les Mielles GC, are named as reserves by selectors Corinne Ramskill and Yvonne Rodger. New JLGA president Lynne Cottignies is team manager.

Cottignies said: ‘I’m delighted to be team manager and I hope the team can win the gold medal again. They did ever so well in Rhodes and with three of the team still together I’m confident they will have a very good chance.’
