SENATOR Stuart Syvret says that his arrest yesterday was like something out of a ‘New York cops and robbers TV series’.

He used his one phone call after being arrested yesterday morning to call the JEP Newsdesk to describe the arrest — and said that the police did not have a warrant to search the property.

The Senator was arrested yesterday in a raid on his home by officers investigating alleged breaches of the Data Protection Law. He said that he had spent four hours being interviewed by officers, but has given ‘no comment’ answers throughout.

Senator Syvret was arrested by officers at the Grouville home of his partner, Deputy Carolyn Labey, at around 9 am yesterday. She is currently out of Jersey on holiday with her children.
