JERSEY students hoping for a place at Cambridge University will have to work even harder in the future.
From next summer, A* grades will be given to students who achieve above 90 per cent in an A-level exam – and anyone wanting a Cambridge place will have to get at least one, along with two As.
However, when the new grade is introduced next year other universities, including Oxford, will merely be observing them, and not actually using them.
Jersey’s head of careers and work-related learning, Andy Gibbs, said that he felt adding a higher grade could mean additional, unnecessary stress for young people.
