Victoria College pupils John de Carteret (15) and Matthew Parker (14) managed to complete 81 holes at Les Mielles on Monday after deciding to see how many rounds of golf they could play in a day.

The friends, who are both in Year 10, hit their first balls at 6.30 am and by the time they finished at 7.30 pm they had completed four and a half rounds. The pair have raised around £700 so far, which they will be splitting between Jersey Hospice Care and the oncology department at the Hospital.

John said that the two causes were close to his heart. ‘My father died six years ago at the oncology department and my aunt died at Hospice, so I decided to give something back to them both,’ he said. ‘The event was a great success and we would love to do it again.’
