At a public meeting about the future of the centre, Islanders also resurrected talks of a glass lift giving access to the venue, and discussed the possibility of scrapping Ann Street plans and building a multi-storey car park at Snow Hill instead.
The two-hour meeting, held at the Fort, was led by the Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel and was attended by around 50 people.
Panel chairman Deputy Roy Le Hérissier said that its purpose was to ‘kick off’ the panel’s inquiry into the future of the centre.
