A total of 430 runners have already signed up to the race tomorrow, and late entries on the day could mean the total would pass the 450 mark – representing the largest entry for 20 years.

Last year more than 50 runners signed up on the day, bringing the total to just over 400, and organisers are confident that a similar number will sign up late this year.

The only time the field has been larger than 450 was at the inaugural race in 1989 when 507 runners finished. Organiser, Paul Raimbault, said that usually they expect, on average, 50 runners to sign up on the day. ‘We already have 430 signed up so we are on track for being around 80 more than last year,’ he said.

The race begins at 9 am from Route Du Nord, St John, with runners heading west to the finish in St Ouen’s Bay 13.1 miles away.
