Jersey’s Gavin O’Neill will take to the course for his second CI men’s final against first-time finalist Andy Eggo, while the women’s final is between Jersey’s Alex Mollin and Guernsey 13-year-old Aimee Ponte.
The teenager, who was still 12 on the opening day of the Guernsey championship, had an excellent tournament defeating defending champion Jan Chamberlain in the semi-final and then winning the final against multi-Guernsey winner Kay Mapley.
The Guernsey final went to sudden death after Ponte sunk a remarkable 30 foot putt on the 18th hole to level the match. Ponte obviously has a bright future in the game and no doubt she will attract good support for her match on Sunday 14 June.
