HUNDREDS of Islanders celebrated the summer solstice weekend at special open-air concerts in St Ouen.

With the setting sun providing the perfect glowing backdrop, a total of 1,400 people gathered at Grantez on Friday and Saturday evening for the National Trust for Jersey Sunset Concerts.

On Friday, Dennis Rollins’ Boneyard entertained the lively crowd with Dixieland jazz. Saturday evening was given a classical flavour with the ten-piece Harlequin Brass.

Karen Edwards, of the National Trust for Jersey, said: ‘Friday was very lively with lots of families and people getting up and dancing. Saturday’s concert attracted an older audience because it was classical. They were both very successful evenings.’
