Following on from his victory in the Channel Islands Matchplay championship earlier this month O’Neill, playing off a plus two handicap, topped the bill with a gross score of 68 at Les Mielles on Saturday.
Playing in the men’s Strokeplay competition he gathered a number of accolades along the way including winning Nearest the Pin on the sixth hole and taking the Longest Drive on the second hole.
However, it was Rob Denton, 18 hcp, who won the Strokeplay event with a nett score of 63 edging last year’s winner Ollie Parker, 12 hcp, for the top spot on countback with Ken Mitchell, 10 hcp, in third on 64.
