With temperatures approaching 30 degrees, Les Quennevais playing fields was still a constant hive of activity as nearly 40 adult teams and over 50 children’s teams battled it out over the two days.
With four games each in Saturday’s adult group stage, teams were then placed in either the championship or the plate for Sunday’s games. HSBC regained the title of the Championship, beating RBC Custody 1-0 in the final, the first defeat for RBC and the ninth straight win over two days for HSBC. The Plate was won by Monte FC, the first UK entry, who beat CPA 3-1.
More than 50 children’s teams also competed over the two-day tournament, with over 600 children benefiting from training sessions on Thursday, Friday and Sunday with professional coaches from Southampton and Everton FCs.
The money raised will support several Island charities, including Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled.nextpage
