Privileges and Procedures, the committee responsible for States reform and conduct, say that the Senator has broken the States Members’ code of conduct by sending the e-mails to Attorney General William Bailhache, whom he called ‘a liar, a crook and a closet fascist’, and Dan Murphy, who he claimed had helped destroy the position of the Constables in the States.
Senator Syvret has complained about his arrest at his Grouville home, and the search of the property he shares with his partner, parish Deputy Carolyn Labey, claiming that it was carried out without a warrant and in breach of the law.
The Senator wrote to Mr Bailhache and Mr Murphy over the arrest and search, saying that they had played a part in the arrest.
