This year the competition, which is held 23 July-2 August, is being incorporated into the Santa Cruz Ocean Spirit festival and organisers are expecting around 160,000 people to attend the event, which includes a music festival, making it the biggest audience the Jersey team will have ever performed in front of.
Joining the team this year are several new faces, including JP Guégan, Dave Priddis and Henry Johnson, as well as five paddlers from Guernsey.
They will be joined by veteran competitors Stuart McGlinchey and Ailsa McDougal, who have both paddled in numerous world and other high level events and have achieved top results, as well as two times World junior champion, Dave Speller, who now paddles as a senior, Rob O’Brien and junior paddler Lizzie Johnson who will compete in the senior ladies for the first time.
