Dr Rosemary Geller said that there was a lot of strain on the community at the moment and admitted that doctors were under increasing pressure to make home visits.

‘We are looking at how long we can carry on with that,’ said Dr Geller. ‘When their resources are used to full capacity we will have to consider moving on to treating people suffering from the illness rather than treating the people they are also in contact with. Islanders requiring more information on the virus should phone the flu helpline on 445566 between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday.
