Scrutiny want inquiry into vulnerable child services

The Health, Social Security and Housing sub-panel chaired by Senator Alan Breckon published its review into the co-ordination of services for vulnerable children today.

And it concluded that there was an immediate need for a clear line of accountability running to a single minister for services to run efficiently.

The panel believes there is an urgent need for seven specialist psychiatric, psychological and behavioural therapists to be recruited to boost child and adolescent mental health services.

It also wants £1 million given to charitable and voluntary organisations to improve support provision.
