At the competition on Sunday, she threw PBs of 37.72m in the discus and 12.62m in the shot to claim the titles and is now ranked number one in the U15 UK shot putt rankings and second in the discus ranking by just 10 cm.
Duquemin, who last month took silver in the junior shot at the English Schools Athletics Championships, won this weekend’s discus competition convincingly by 4m, and the shot by 2 cm. And now Duquemin has the prospect of being number one for both events firmly in her sights.
‘It was a really good weekend, the discus could have gone a bit better and I could have thrown a little bit further but it feels good to be ranked number one and number two for my age group,’ she said. ‘I went there to just try my best but, certainly with the discus, I was in the lead from my first throw. From there every throw had something I needed to improve so I went back to my coach, talked about it and concentrated on getting better.’
