Allotment plan takes root in homes scheme

Jolyon Baker, of Clock Tower Homes, has applied to Planning to provide them with ten allotments on one vergée of land in front of his housing and flat development at Vinchelez Farm.

He received Planning permission to convert the former dairy farm to seven houses and five flats in March last year.

Construction is under way, but this week Mr Baker applied for allotments, ten metres by six metres each, as he wants to give people bigger amenity space.

‘I love gardening and I think it is so important not to give people a postage stamp, said the 49-year-old who appeared in Bergerac. ‘Growing your own is a sustainable approach to life. I get a huge amount out of gardening and growing but you have to put effort in. Allotments are very topical for health and economical reasons.’
