Ann, who has been active in local netball for over 40 years, was up against competition from finalists from around the country nominated for England Netball’s Goalden Globe for long service.
A letter of congratulations arrived in the post on Wednesday. ‘Wednesday was the first thing I knew about even being nominated so it is still sinking in,’ she said.
‘I remember over the years seeing all these people receiving long service awards at national meetings and thinking they must have done an awful lot for netball – and now that’s me!’
Since her involvement in Jersey netball began after moving to the Island from the UK in 1965, Ann has held various positions in the Jersey Netball Association including vice-president for four years and president for an impressive 14.
She is now the umpiring and coaching secretary for the JNA, regularly organising and holding courses in the Island as well as helping out across the board wherever she is needed.
