His score of 757.98 ex 825.165 proved good enough to clinch the accolade from Bruce Horwood who scored 756.97 and was left ruing a disappointing 1,000 yard score on Friday.

The ever-consistent Barry Le Cheminant took third spot on 749.84 with former GB shot Peter Chance of Surrey finishing as the highest placed visitor on 748.80.

On the final day Debbie Thompson mastered the conditions to win the Shipstone Trophy at 300 yards with an excellent 75.12 ex 75.15, just a single V bull ahead of fellow JRA member Colin Mallett.

At 500 yards Le Cheminant continued to impress on his return to the sport as his 75.12 earned him the Gallichan Trophy.

But it was Thompson’s day as she remained steady under pressure to win the 600 yard Macartney and the third stage of the Jersey VIII with 75.09 for a total of 300.38 ex 300.60.
