Aircraft dating back more than seven decades were due to take to the skies for the annual free event which has been running since 1952.
Early morning gloom was expected to lift but a strong north-easterly wind was due to cause problems for aircraft taking off at the Airport.
The famous Chinook helicopter had earlier been withdrawn from the show for military operational reasons, and the gusty wind was expected to cause some problems for some of the older and smaller aircraft.
Speaking before the show, Deputy Mike Higgins, International Air Display organiser, said: ‘The wind is my biggest concern for today.’
