States urged again to buy Plémont site

The Constable of St Ouen, Ken Vibert, is calling on States Members to back his plans to make the land the subject of a compulsory purchase order. It is estimated that the land would cost the taxpayer more than £5 million.

It is the third time that the States have been asked to support moves to take the land back into public ownership. On both previous occasions Members have voted in support of the moves.

However, Mr Vibert said that he was increasingly frustrated that nothing had been done to secure the site, which is owned by multi-millionaire businessman Trevor Hemmings. Earlier this year Mr Hemmings submitted a Planning application to demolish the holiday village and build 73 tourist chalets.
