We want amateur photographers to send us their favourite images of the Island for the My Jersey Photo Competition.
But we don’t want the sort of pictures you will find on a postcard. We want alternative images – from a picture of the Harbour or a street in St Helier, to a green lane in Trinity or woodland in St Peter.
We want images that are special for a personal reason. Perhaps it is a place that holds childhood memories, or is simply a sight that you see every day on your way to work or while walking your dog.
The pictures can be of absolutely anything, but they must have been taken during 2009. The winner, to be chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a state-of-the-art Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR camera worth £400.
Each picture must be accompanied by a short description of no more than 30 words of why the image is so special to you.
The competition – in conjunction with Fotosound, one of Jersey’s leading camera retailers – is open to all Islanders aged 12 and over. Each entrant must only submit one picture and all entries must be submitted by Wednesday 30 September.
The 20 best pictures will be uploaded on this website in early October, with the top five being featured in the JEP during the same week, when the winner will be revealed.
See Saturday’s JEP for more information and details of how to enter the My Jersey Photo competition.
