However, the role will be remaining in the Bale family, with Roger handing over the reins to his son, Jonathan.
Mr Bale, who took over as chairman in 1984, said that he had seen a number of changes.
‘It has been my pleasure to be chairman of the Huelin-Renouf group of companies for the past 25 years, during which we have moved from being dependent on the movement of the Huelin Group’s goods to become the leading Channel Islands owned and controlled shipping service,’ he said.
Mr Bale’s last duty as chairman was to officially name the firm’s new vessel, the Huelin Dispatch, at a special ceremony at the New North Quay on Friday, during which the ship was also blessed by the Dean of Jersey, the Very Rev Bob Key.
