On the beautiful Gold Coast, Gamlin finished in two hours and 40 minutes in the women’s 55-59 age group while Taylor finished fourth out of the six Britons he ran against in the men’s 65-69 age group.
Gamlin, who completed only her second triathlon, said: ‘It was fantastic and I loved every minute of it. The event was a one-off target for me and because I enjoyed it so much I’ve now got the bug and I’m going to continue with it.’
With her Great Britain début behind her, 55-year-old Gamlin is hoping to be selected for GB again for the European Championships in Ireland next July.
