The opening will begin with the celebration of Mass at 1.30 pm. The principal concelebrant will be the Vicar General with responsibility for the Channel Islands of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth, Monsignor John Nelson. After the mass the Oasis Centre will be opened and there will be an open house throughout the afternoon to allow people to visit.
The centre’s director, former Grainville School head David Cahill, said that all would be most welcome, irrespective of their denomination.
The centre has been created in the old Presbytery to be a house of prayer and retreat centre. The first event there takes place tomorrow night, and the Prayer Room at the Oasis will be open through the night for a prayer vigil to take place, beginning at 11 pm and finishing with morning prayer at 7am.
Mr Cahill said that all would be welcome to visit, no matter for how short a period of time, at any time during the night.
