Under her leadership, the club is focused on recruiting new members who want to enjoy the fellowship it provides and to contribute to the community work it does both in the Island and internationally.
The club, one of two Rotary clubs in Jersey, currently has around 70 members and Carol is looking to boost that number. She is charging each of her Rotarians with recruiting one other person to join.
‘You have got to be someone who will put the commitment in and be involved,’ she explained. ‘We want people who are willing to help others in the community.’
Carol says that the Rotary Club of Jersey meets twice a month for meals and to hear a speaker. Members use their professional skills and networks to further the work of the club’s international, community, environmental and membership committees on a whole range of projects.
The club has raised funds for many local charities over the 80 years since it was formed. It owns and runs the Good Companions Clubs which have been providing day care and companionship for older people for over 50 years.
