With a 1 km loop of sand dunes at Le Braye 13 runners finished the girls’ 7-8 years’ race with Florence Gothard managing to stay ahead of last month’s winner Olivia Mehigan for the victory, with Kitty Brewer safely taking third place.

With the largest field of the day the boys’ 7-8 years’ race started in a dramatic fashion, with a battle from the line resulting in a couple of unfortunate tumbles. Thomas Bolton, Callum Huckerby and Pieter Stein claimed first, second and third spots respectively.

The 9-10-year-olds ran the course twice and it was a comfortable victory for Yasmin Lookess in the girls’ event as she claimed her second gold medal of the series. There was a good scrap for second place with Betsan Williams overtaking Amber O’Driscoll on the second lap to take the runner-up spot.

In the boys’ race a sprint to the finish line brought James Dempsey a win over Jack Peggie with the consistently improving Samuel Maher in third place.

With three laps for the older competitors there was success for Tom Ward and Gemma Gothard in the 11-12 age group, while Oliver Terry and Chloe Turmel were triumphant in the 13-14 category.
