The amount raised was higher than expected, and takes the charity close to fulfilling its commitment to the British Red Cross to meet half of the £160,000 cost of rebuilding the school.
Despite the rain on Saturday morning, there was a queue of eager buyers waiting outside the doors of Hautlieu School when they were opened by staff volunteers from the Jersey Evening Post.
