In the wake of French striker Thierry Henry handling the ball to set up William Gallas’ aggregate winning goal in the World Cup qualifying play-off against the Republic of Ireland in Paris last night, André says television technology should be introduced to help match officials.
André said: ‘Last night’s goal should have been disallowed; it was handball and if television was used it would have taken just a few seconds to sort out. All it needs is a monitor on the touch line and either the fourth or a fifth official could look after it and arrive at the right decision.
‘It was tough on Ireland because they battled hard throughout and they were very unlucky. I know it’s not right but I believe most players would do what Henry did last night to help their team win a game.’
