Rugby Club and Royal Artillery back Holidays for Heroes

It will be a calculated risk but one that paid off at St Peter last year when, for the third time in a row, Jersey won the Wilkes Trophy, 30-7.

‘It will be interesting to see flanker Ashley Elphinston play openside while scrum-half Brendan O’Brien’s played well when he’s come on for us,’ said Harvey. ‘No 10 Tom Turner leads the defensive line well and if he sees a gap is quick to go through it, while Nathan (Kemp) is being given a run out (after long-term injury) for the third time in two weeks.

‘Myles Landick and Mike Le Bourgeois need a run-out while winger Killian Dorey has a lot of talent – but we need to get him in shape. Aaron Young has also been impressive in the 2nd team so, overall, there’s a lot of talent we have out there.

‘I want the RA to enjoy their weekend in Jersey – they are in between tours of Afghanistan at the moment.’

All proceeds from tomorrow’s match, which has free parking and no admission charge, will go towards Holidays for Heroes, a charity for servicemen, and will include an auction and raffle.
