Bought as one of a pair of matching horses by Ivor Barette, Unique’s main role is a carriage horse for weddings and funerals. However, he has also been schooled in dressage by young rider, Sophie Oliveira who has had many successes with him over the past season.

The weekend was also successful for Lorraine Allan who took first place in three of the championship classes sponsored by Adding 1.

Two of these wins in the medium and advanced medium classes were on Nouveau who had just returned to competition after time off with injury, while the other was in the elementary class on Powerboy. She also had placings with her younger horse Zorba plus wins in two of Saturday’s classes with Nouveau.

Other championship winners included Conrad Coutanche on Satisfaction, Kerry Huelin on Macauley, Lesley Ropert on Mon Amie and Gemma Dufty on Bay of Waves.

Ropert and Dufty also had the highest percentages of the weekend with marks of 75 per cent and 75.42 respectively, receiving special awards for this achievement, presented by Ocean Stables.
