Officials believe that naming the stars due to flick the switch at the launch of the Fête dé Noué in town tomorrow night could spark dangerous hysteria on the streets of St Helier.

They say that they are fearful of a repeat of the crushes in Birmingham earlier this month when pop stars JLS turned on the lights there.

Town centre manager Richard MacKenzie said that the switch-on was taking place in the Royal Square at 6.45 pm, but would not confirm who the acts were.
