From Margi Holland Prior, chairman, St Aubin Residents’ Association.

THANK you, JEP, for your article on 2 December ‘Lighting up St Aubin’. It was a true community affair, with traders and residents working together.

With hard work, the St Aubin Residents’ Association raised more than £4,000, beginning in the early summer of 2008, with the support of the businesses and traders, and this was used for the marvellous lights along La Neuve Route.

Having been disappointed that St Aubin has not been well illuminated with Christmas lights for the past few years, I understand Ann Minchinton’s feelings of sadness (JEP, 11 December) at not being included in this particular party.

Perhaps she and others living at Red Houses and Les Quennevais could work together with the local retailers to raise funds to buy Christmas lights for future years?

The Christmas lights along La Neuve Route did not just materialise – they came about through the persistence and determination of the residents and traders, who achieved their aim of bringing a vibrant atmosphere and seasonal fun to the village.
