A request not made by this newspaper asked for the number of allegations logged in the last five years which include the words of the dating apps Tinder or Grindr.

The response states there have been 20 such allegations logged since 2014. Of these nine were allegations of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, which all took place in 2017 and 2018.

There have also been seven allegations of sexual assault – four by women and three by men.

And there have also been three allegations of physical assault and one of disorderly behaviour or harassment.

The response says: ‘In some cases, the mention of the sites is incidental and did not contribute to the alleged crime, eg the individual was active on Grindr or the couple met on Tinder some years earlier.’

The JEP has reported how Pride of Jersey finalist Cheyenne O’Connor has helped snare 11 paedophiles by posing online as under-aged boys or girls on apps such as Grindr.
