The silver Toyota Prius was travelling along Grande Route de St Jean when it was in collision with the 23-year-old man.
The States police say the man was knocked to the ground and was later treated in hospital before being discharged.
The taxi left the scene before the police and paramedics arrived but returned a short time later. The police want to trace the taxi’s passenger, who is believed to be about 50 years old and was picked up at the Weighbridge and dropped off at St John’s Church.
Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at about 2.30 am on Saturday, is being asked to phone the States police on 612612 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
