Recent bad weather has caused disruption to sailings, leaving supermarket shelves bare across the Island. And the fast-food outlet has seemingly felt the affects too after it issued a message on its Facebook saying it had had to close for the day.

Staff were hopeful the store could re-open on Monday.

In a post on Facebook, the firm said: ‘Unfortunately, due to the recent disruption to sailings, our store has been unable to receive a delivery of key ingredients and as such we regrettably have had to close for the day.

‘We are aiming to re-open tomorrow [Monday] once the outstanding delivery arrives. Thank you for your understanding of the situation.’

Elsewhere Islanders shared photos of bare supermarket shelves after days of strong winds caused disruption to freight ship sailings. The Commodore Clipper’s scheduled Saturday sailing was delayed until Sunday. The Commodore Goodwill’s journey was also cancelled.

Condor Ferries did charter a freight vessel, MV Arrow, to provide. additional capacity on Sunday.

Meanwhile, hedge-veg stands across the Island were fully stocked as were sections of shops and stores selling local produce.
