Following a generally unsettled few weeks, which saw the Island record one of its wettest ever June days, an area of high pressure will become established over the British Isles this week.
Temperatures are due to reach 29°C on Thursday and the warm and settled weather is expected to last into the weekend.
And it could be even hotter in the UK, where some areas could hit 34°C.
The UK Met Office, which issues 30-day forecasts on its website, says it may become more unsettled next week, but the worst of the weather will stay in more northern parts.
In a summary of the weather for the British Isles for next week, it says: ‘It will probably [be] changeable and sometimes breezy with weather systems crossing the UK from the west, bringing bands of rain interspersed with brighter, showery periods.
‘Most of the rain will be in the north-west where it may be rather cool. Drier and sometimes warm conditions are likely in the east and south with a chance of some longer fine, dry spells in early July.’
