There have been eight collisions involving pedestrians so far this year, with 218 taking place between 2016 and 2020.
Meanwhile, there have been three involving cyclists during 2021 so far. A total of 216 collisions involving cyclists occurred over the past five years.
A written States question from Deputy Mary Le Hegarat requested the information from Home Affairs Minister Len Norman.
It also asked for the number of incidents where a prosecution was sought and how many of these had been successful.
However, the minister responded to say it had not been possible ‘to answer this particular question’ as States police systems did not allow for ‘such a specific search’.
The response outlined that it would have been necessary to examine each of the cases and there had ‘neither been the resource or the time to do so since the question was asked’.
