Man charged with evading almost £25,000 of duty on tobacco and cigarettes

A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with evading almost £25,000 of duty on tobacco and cigarettes and importing a Class C drug.

Aaran Howard Eastwood appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday after he was charged with nine counts of evading £24,560 worth of duty on the products at the airport between October 2020 and October 201.

He was also charged with importing of a small quantity of diazepam tablets.

Antonio Paulino De Andrade (60), was charged with knowingly acquiring tobacco goods over the same period, chargeable with duty that had not been paid.

The pair were released on bail and will appear before the Royal Court on 11 November.
