A FORMER Children’s and Education Minister has been announced as the new chief executive of a sexual assault support charity.

Tracey Le Brocq (née Vallois) has taken up the role with Jersey Action Against Rape – which provides support and counselling to survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the Island.

This is the first time the charity has appointed someone to the role and the decision was taken to do so following the growing demand for its counselling services.

Ms Le Brocq, who served as a States Member for almost 14 years, said she was looking forward to bringing her skill set to the charity and continuing to help it grow.

She said: ‘Making a difference in the community in which we live has always been at the forefront of my life and this very important charity is the perfect way for me to bring my experiences as a States Member, as well as my experiences in the financial sector, into the community at a very real level.’

Sara McIntosh, chairperson of JAAR, added: ‘We are delighted to have Tracey on board. Her passion for the charity together with her interests in the law and project management have made her the perfect fit for JAAR.’
