ALTHOUGH track conditions were not conducive to ultra-fast times, the large crowd who turned out for the LC Pallot/Sealey Tools Hill Climb at Bouley Bay on Easter Monday were treated to some spectacular action – and two records.
The first fell to Oliver du Feu, a newcomer to hill climbs who is fast making his mark in the club, having already broken the sprint record recently. On his aptly-named Yamaha Banshee Quad Power he slid his way up the hill, thrilling the crowds along the way, to take his class and post a new record of 48.76 sec.
Not to be outdone the classy field of 12 Ferraris, in Jersey to stage a round of the National Ferrari challenge, were clearly revelling in the conditions.
The crowds were thrilled by some spectacular driving as the competitors unleashed the full power of their expensive machinery. Unusually, two competitors broke the record on the same run. Richard Prior in his 348TS and John Marshall in his 430 Scuderia, both posting 49.84 sec smashing Jon Godwin’s record of 50.31 which has stood since April 2004.
